Beximco: Mass Production Upcycling

Collaboration Project with US State Department 

 

Role: Project Manager of Sustainable Textile Department BEXIMCO- 3 Years  

Summary 

Based in Gazipur, Bangladesh inside of one of the worlds largest vertically integrated factories, I started a small department focused on impact that quickly grew into a large and diverse team recognized world wide. We created a vision where designing can be environmentally and socially responsible, through certifications, projects and collaborations. 

Work/Strategy 

Strategic planning was done to analyze, reduce, and eventually eliminate the waste created in BEXTEX while producing the first mass production Upcycling Program. Quantitative data was collected on emissions and production outputs. Qualitative data was collected by ethnographic interviews of workers, NGO, workers, and supplies to find areas to reach consensus. Future goals and directions were determined and continually presented to CFO and CEO. Much of this remains confidential. 

Collections are designed by Aus Design and systems design and production is carried out through Beximco.
