Glimpse
Many things have to happen before our products reach us. They travel long distances, go through many hands, and experience many different environments. As consumers it is hard to understand exactly how these things come to us. Can we distill all this information down into a "glimpse," that will allow people to have just enough information to start filling in information gaps?
This piece gives a glimpse of the journey that a jacket takes. The amount of information is limited and only begins to open the doors to to viewers imagination of products creation.
The participant is asked to put on the jacket. As they explore the garment they trigger sensors that project "glimpses" of what that product has seen on the wall facing the wearer.
Research
I personally over saw the production of this jacket from raw fiber to end construction. Videos were taken through out the process, and those are two of the videos you see here.
The Jacket: The conductive pocket triggers the material processing phase. Here the veiwers see the people responsible for gathering and processing pineapple leaves into fiber to then be spun.
The conductive collar triggers views from the drive from the fabric processing plant to the sewing factory.
